“Comfortable and inviting hotel in the heart of Thamel”

Nik SUpon arrival at the hotel, we received a warm welcome by the front desk staffs. We are absolutely stunned by its tasteful furnishing in the room. Mine especially is quite a large room by the normal standard it has 1 wide window panel which make the room look bright. Bathroom has nice detailing of amenities and best service of the attendant which is a big plus to their hospitality, Room is squeaky clean and bed is so comfortable. I have 1 single bed and 1 double bed.
Very nice hotel with great rooms in the new wing. I have been in Nepal have very limited choices. I am so impressed with the housekeeping The restaurants are authentic specially Chinese food.

Room Tip: Depending upon budget choose higher category room, it worths.

“Nice ambience!!”

bitesizedtravelsWe spent four nights at the Hotel Tayoma and overall it was a pleasant experience. The rooms are quirky, but extremely comfortable and clean with everything you could need, fast WIFI, Television, complimentary drinking water. There is a beautiful rooftop garden which is lovely for reading or catching some rays and has nice views. There were just a few things that were slightly annoying during our stay. The staff at the front office helped us get a room even we had not booked in advance.

Food was nice in the main restaurant.
Overall, we were very satisfied with the service.

“Cozy Hotel with best location”

I have been to Nepal 5 times and has been staying in this hotel ever since. The hotel rooms are cleanliness, great food, good location and most importantly the friendliness of the hotel staff contributes to my return to this hotel numerous times. For some being right in the heart of the tourist area which is Thamel could be off-putting, however the location of this hotel means that it is extremely quiet and something of an oasis amidst the clamor.
It is very convenient to get good food and do some shopping while in Kathmandu. Walking distance to a taxi stand nearby eases you to get around the city or you may arrange tour packages in the hotel itself with good rates offered. Hotel Tayoma is truly charming and all rooms with complimentary WiFi.
This opens out onto a small but delightful covered garden. The staff is friendly, very attentive and helpful. I will return to Kathmandu and choose to stay here again. Hotel Tayoma definitely lifts up its name as a cozy, affordable and great hotel.
Highly recommended.

“Conveniently located, clean bathrooms (halleluyah to the last bit!)”

bitesizedtravelsStayed here for only a night since we had to catch a morning bus to Pokhabitesizedtravelsra. It is centrally located with access to pretty much everything. Clean linen & bathroom was a blessing, since my luck seems to have run out when it comes to the basics! Going by other reviews was again lucky with hot water in the morning before rushing for our bus. Loved the food too.
Room Tip: Get rooms away from the street side. Dogs barking, vehicles honking and a myriad of other noises are…

“Centrally located, friendly staff, homely atmosphere…”

raman-poojariOur group of seven stayed here for five days. As there is no lift in the hotel, our request all of us were given rooms in the first floor of the new wing. We had a wonderful stay. As Indians we missed Indian menu at the restaurant, but the Chinese dishes were very good for those who liked it. The staff is very friendly and front office very helpful. Overall a very homely atmosphere. Thank you, Tayoma.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back side of new wing are sunnier and quieter.

“Nice hotel although other guests a little noisy.”

Henry_Boot_IndiaNice hotel although other guests a little noisy.
We rented a small apartment – living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. Very good although slightly expensive and we did give up asking for more kitchen utensils – the kitchen was basic to say the least and could have done with a good clean.
WiFi in room and generally quite fast.

Very well located for the city sights and food shops. Didn’t try the in house Chinese restaurant as it allows indoor smoking. There are at least two very high quality restaurants just around the corner (The Yak & Rosemary).

Hotel has a battery backup system and a generator. During the many power cuts the battery kicks in immediately and powers one wall fan, one light in each room and the WiFi. The generator is turned on up to an hour later and powers everything.

“Not a fancy place, just a good deal.”

jrobertoI read a bunch of different reviews on this place before booking. There are some problems, but nothing the front desk can’t fix. I booked a room with a bathtub so they will have to change that for me and a few other things. Well they did not fix the stuff. I did not take off as much as I would have as my wife was sick and did not want to change hotels or rooms. So I left it.
Here are some of the problems. dining table and 4 chairs, 3 of the chairs were broken. Kitchen water had problems. Kitchen was very ugly. Hot water worked only some of the time. Dogs barking constantly at least 14 hours per day. And a few time at night. It was not the 600 sq ft it said on the booking site(linked from tripadvisor) it was about 350 sq ft. As before, no tub. I may go through the booking site later and tell more of what is wrong with this place, but I am tired right now. So, in general I would not recommend this place unless you are strong and will hold the management to their online promises. And again if I had asked for all this stuff to be fixed and it was not, then I would have rated this place lower. I will give them the benefit of the doubt.
Good luck.

Room Tip: Talk to the front desk and get what you asked for. Ask, ask, ask.
